DONALD E. "DON" HESS

Chief Warrant Officer 4, Adjutant General Corps, U. S. Army Retired

Historian Emeritus and Member of the Board without Vote

 

In July 2007 CW4 Donald E. Hess, CW4, U. S. Army Retired, was designated as Historian Emeritus and Advisor to the Warrant Officers Heritage Foundation Board of Directors and Corporate Officers. 

 

Don was drafted into the Army in January 1953 and was appointed as a Warrant Officer in September 1961.

 

His final assignment as a CW4 in 1973 was as Adjutant and Personnel Officer responsible for all military personnel assigned to the White House Communications Agency.

 

Upon retirement from the Army in 1975, Don began full-time employment with USAWOA.

 

He played a big part in the first twenty-five years of the U. S. Army Warrant Officers Association (USAWOA) during his tenure as Founder, first President, and later Executive Vice President.

 

He was the compiler and author of "U. S. Army Warrant Officers," a history of the Army Warrant Officer and the USAWOA, Turner Publishing Company 1996.

 

In October 1997 he retired from full-time employment as the USAWOA Executive Vice President after 25-years of exemplary service to the Association. At that time he was designated as USAWOA President Emeritus.

 

Don and his wife Pauline returned in late May 2007 from a two-year tour as Directors of the World Friendship Center in Hiroshima, Japan.
